About Me

DSC01978.jpeg

I was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, where I developed a passion for serving others and creating meaningful change. I earned my bachelor's degree in Rehabilitation Services with a concentration in Rehabilitation Counseling from Alabama State University before pursuing a master's degree in Film Production from Full Sail University.

While those degrees may seem like they come from two different worlds, they've allowed me to combine my world for helping people with the art of storytelling to educate, inspire, and connect with others.

As a behavioral therapist, mental health advocate, and person living with a C2 spinal cord injury, I've learned that some of life's greatest challenges can become our greatest purpose. My journey has taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of showing up authentically, both for myself and for others. Whether I'm talking about  mental health, working with clients, or sharing my story, my goal is always to encourage people to see that healing is possible and that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

That mission led me to create Better In Black, a movement dedicated to breaking the stigma surrounding mental health in the Black community through creativity, education, and honest conversations. I'm also expanding my work as an adaptive fitness trainer, helping people with disabilities. I believe that mental and physical health, and community are deeply connected, and everyone deserves access to resources that help them in any way, shape, or form..

Whether I'm in a therapy session, behind a camera, coaching in the gym, or building Better In Black, I strive to lead with compassion, authenticity, and purpose. My hope is that my story reminds others that our circumstances don't have to define us. Instead, they can become the very foundation that inspires us to grow and be "Better"
